On 4 March, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas took part in the meeting of the European Union Ambassadors accredited to Lithuania. The gathering in Vilnius was organized by Slovenian Ambassador Rudolf Gabrovec.

Speaking about the upcoming NATO Summit, Minister P.Vaitiekūnas indicated that Lithuania supported the membership of all the three Balkan countries - Albania, Croatia and Macedonia – in the North Atlantic Alliance.

‘I think that Georgia’s aspirations regarding the Membership Action Plan should also be considered in Bucharest. I trust that a positive decision regarding Georgia will be made,’ said Minister P.Vaitiekūnas.

According to the head of the Lithuanian diplomacy, joining the Membership Action Plan by Ukraine would be a positive sign regarding the integration of the country into the community of Western democracies.

Discussing the meeting of the Spring European Council, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that the European Union should speed-up the creation of the European external energy policy and should further seek to consolidate the European internal energy market and to build the critical missing links of the infrastructure. According to the Minster, those issues should be resolved immediately.
