DURING THE MEETING IN THE LITHUANIAN EMBASSY IN GEORGIA, BUSINESSMEN DECIDED TO ESTABLISH THE BALTIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
On 28 February, in the Lithuanian Embassy in Georgia, a meeting was held of business representatives from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland, working in this Southern Caucasus country. During the meeting, businessmen decided to establish a public organisation - the Baltic Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber would unite businessmen from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland, working in Georgia. Its main purposes would be to promote trade and economic relations among those countries and Georgia, to represent common interests of the members of the organization and defend them, to present proposals to Georgian Governmental institutions regarding the conditions for business, investment climate and diverse business information, to organise important for business events and seminars.
During the meeting, Lithuanian Ambassador to Georgia Ričardas Degutis welcomed this initiative and emphasized that the establishment of such an organization would contribute not only to the development of business of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland in Georgia, but also to a more rapid implementation of Georgian economic reforms.
The meeting to establish the Chamber is planned in the second half of March.
