DISCUSSION WITH MOLDOVAN AND UKRAINIAN EXPERTS FOCUSES ON EASTERN PARTNERSHIP PROSPECTS

On 31 October at the Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC), the Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrius Krivas welcomed participants of a discussion on the future of the Eastern Partnership initiative. The Lithuanian Foreign Vice-Minister stressed that the future of the initiative would depend on both the European Union and on the Eastern partners’ progress in implementing the agreed reforms.

The event was attended by Members of the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania, political scientists, journalists, and diplomats. Speakers included Moldovan and Ukrainian experts, such as Serhiy Solodky, Deputy Director of the Ukrainian non-governmental organization “Institute of World Policy” and Victor Chirilla, Director of the Foreign Policy Association of Moldova, as well as the Georgian, Moldovan and Ukrainian Ambassadors to Lithuania who shared their views on the future of the Eastern partnership initiative. The centre’s study “The Eastern Partnership beyond Vilnius – mission accomplished, even greater tasks ahead” was also presented during the discussion.
