On 4 April, Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Darius Jurgelevičius received Russian Federation Ambassador to Lithuania Yuri Zubakov. At the meeting the officials discussed the upcoming 110th session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to be held on 2-3 May in Vilnius. The Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated the invitation by Chairman of CoE’s Ministerial Committee Antanas Valionis to Russian Federation Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov to come to the session.
At the meeting the officials discussed also the issues of Lithuania’s consular representation in the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. The Deputy Foreign Minister underscored, that taking into consideration the planned changes in the visa regime between Lithuania and the Russian Federation, it is expedient to arrange bilateral consular consultations on these issues in the near future. According to the Deputy Minister, it is of great importance for both countries to properly prepare for the visa regime changes, so that it would have no influence on the Lithuanian-Russian neighbourly co-operation.
