COOPERATION PROSPECTS WERE DISCUSSED IN KALININGRAD

On 2 December, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavičius paid a visit to Kaliningrad, where the field session of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Council of the Baltic Sea States was held. The projects and plans that are implemented by the Kaliningrad Region were presented and future prospects were discussed during the session.

During the visit, the Vice-Minister also met with Vice-Premier of the Kaliningrad Region Yuri Shalimov. Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius and Vice-Premier Y.Shalimov discussed a possibility to organise a fourlateral meeting of the chairmen of the bilateral councils between Lithuania, Poland, Belarus and the Kaliningrad Region early next year and to organise a second meeting of the Commission on the Law Enforcement Bodies’ Cooperation of the Council on the Long-Term Cooperation between the Republic of Lithuania and the Kaliningrad Region of the Russian Federation in the nearest future. Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius and Vice-Premier Y.Shalimov agreed to hold the eighth meeting of the Commission in the second half of 2010.
