CONSULTATIONS ON THE ISSUES OF UKRAINE’S EUROPEAN INTEGRATION WERE HELD IN KYIV

On 9 November in Kyiv, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavičius met with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Oleksandr Horin to discuss the bilateral relations, as well as internal and foreign policy issues that are important for both countries.

Ukraine’s Minister thanked for Lithuania’s aid to the regions of Ukraine that are struck by the influenza epidemic and promised to solve its transportation problems.

Ukraine’s negotiations with the European Union regarding the Association Agreement, preparation for the EU and Ukraine summit, scheduled for December, and the dialogue on visa-free regime were discussed during the consultations on the issues of Ukraine’s European integration.

Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius stressed that Lithuania continued to support Ukraine’s European integration, consistently spoke up for a clear membership perspective and the dialogue for a visa-free regime.

“In turn, we encourage Ukraine’s leaders to allot all the necessary resources for the negotiations regarding the Association Agreement and to successfully complete the negotiations on the comprehensive free trade agreement, which would be an essential part of the Association Agreement,” Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius told Minister P.Poroshenko.

During the visit, Vice-Minister also met with the heads of the European Commission's Delegation to Ukraine and the officials from the Office of Ukraine’s President, and the Cabinet of the Prime Minister.
