CONSULTATIONS OF THE BALTIC FOREIGN MINISTRIES AND GERMAN FEDERAL FOREIGN OFFICE WERE HELD IN TALLINN

On 20-21 May in Tallinn, Political Director of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eitvydas Bajarūnas participated in the political directors’ consultations of the Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian foreign ministries and German Federal Foreign Office.

Officials exchanged opinions on Afghanistan, Iran, the Eastern Partnership initiative, European Union-Russia relations, preparation of NATO’s Strategic Concept, the issues of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, conventional arms control, energy security, Council of the Baltic Sea States and EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.

The consultations of the Baltic and German foreign ministers and political directors are held regularly once a year.

This was a preparatory meeting before the Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian and German foreign ministers’ meeting that is scheduled on 11 June in Tallinn.
