CONSULTATIONS OF LITHUANIAN AND AUSTRIAN FOREIGN MINISTRIES WERE HELD IN VIENNA
During political consultations on 4 October in Vienna, political directors of Lithuanian and Austrian foreign ministries Eitvydas Bajarūnas and Stefan Lehne exchanged opinions on key issues of the European Union’s foreign policy and important bilateral relations.
During the consultations, political directors discussed current issues of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the role of the OSCE in the Western Balkans and priorities of Lithuania’s OSCE chairmanship in 2011.Austria’s experience in the Western Balkans will be also very useful for Lithuania in preparations for its European Union Presidency in 2013.
The political directors also discussed current issues of security policy, energy security, Eastern policy, the situation in Afghanistan and cooperation in providing assistance to this country.
E.Bajarūnas also met with head of the Central, Western and Northern European Department of the Austrian Foreign Affairs Ministry Arno Riedel.
