Consultations in Bulgaria focus on more intense cooperation on top foreign policy issues

On 14 April, the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Kačinskas took part in the Lithuania-Bulgaria bilateral consultations in Sofia and called for stepping up bilateral relations to enhance the representation of interests of the two countries within the European Union, NATO and other international forums.

Meetings with the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Todor Churov focused on the implementation of the EU’s Eastern Partnership policy, assessment of future prospects for relations with Russia and cooperation within NATO in preparation for the next NATO Summit in Warsaw this summer.

Both sides stressed that a unified voice of the like-minded countries in discussions had never been more important for the EU and NATO.

The participants of the consultations also discussed the EU’s energy policy and prospects for the implementation of major energy infrastructure projects.

During the visit to Bulgaria, Kačinskas also met with representatives of the National Assembly.
