CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN LITHUANIAN AND FRENCH FOREIGN MINISTRIES WERE HELD IN PARIS

On 25 May in Paris, Political Director of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eitvydas Bajarūnas took part in political consultations with officials from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

E.Bajarūnas met with Director-General for Political and Security Affairs of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jacques Audibert, Director of Continental Europe Department Roland Galharague, Deputy Director General for Political and Security Affairs Veronique Bujon-Barre, Deputy Director of Strategic Affairs Christian Lechervy.

During the meetings, opinions were exchanged on the European Union-Russia relations, EU’s Eastern Partnership initiative, Central Asia and South Caucasus, NATO’s new Strategic Concept when preparing for NATO’s Summit in Lisbon in the end of 2010. The situation in Afghanistan and Iran was also discussed.

E.Bajarūnas presented priorities of Lithuania’s chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in 2011, discussed the organization’s role and possibilities to address important issues.
