COMMUNITY OF DEMOCRACIES’ STATEMENT ON EGYPT
The member countries of the Community of Democracies (CoD), noted the recent developments in the Arab Republic of Egypt and called on all the involved stakeholders to show restraint and avoid further violence. The CoD expresses deep regret over the loss of life during the recent demonstrations in Egypt, and conveys sympathy to the families of the victims.
The CoD calls on all Egyptian stakeholders and authorities to seek a peaceful and constructive way forward based on an open and inclusive dialogue with all political and civil society formations committed to abiding by democratic norms.
It also urges all interested parties to embark on an orderly democratic transition which respects human rights and fundamental freedoms, for the good of the Egyptian people.
The CoD, therefore, continues to stand for democracy and universal human rights for all human beings.
