BUSINESS SUCCESS IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA IS A STRONG IMPETUS FOR THE COUNTRY’S INTEGRATION INTO THE EUROPEAN UNION
On 6 June Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas during his official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina visited the Birač clay factory owned by Lithuanian investors Ukio Bank Investment Group in the city of Zvornik and met the city mayor Zoran Stevanović.
„I hope that the experience of the Ukio Bank Investment Group will encourage Lithuanian investors to become more interested in investing in this region,” Minister P. Vaitiekūnas said and stressed that this investment is very significant both for Lithuania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At the meeting Minister P. Vaitiekūnas marked that the investment environment is one of the most important conditions for the countries to become closer. According to the Minister, business success and favourable investment environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina are a strong impetus for the country’s integration into the European Union.
“Good investment conditions will help Bosnia and Herzegovina to attract more investment from Lithuania and other EU Member States,” Minister P. Vaitiekūnas said.
Lithuania is the fourth biggest foreign investor in Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to Lithuanian Department of Statistics, in 2006 the investment in Bosnia and Herzegovina was the 10th biggest Lithuanian investment abroad.
On 7 June in Saraevo Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nebojša Radmanović, Chairman of the Council of Ministers Nikola Špirić, Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj. At the meetings bilateral economic cooperation issues, processes of integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the European Union, situation in the Western Balkans is to be discussed.
