Budrys with the Andorran Foreign Minister: We strive to ensure that aggressors are held to account on the international stage
On 15 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, met with his Andorran counterpart Imma Tor Faus on the margins of the Munich Security Conference.
At the meeting, the Foreign Ministers agreed on the need to continue sanctions against Russia, ensure that Russia would be held accountable for its aggression and strengthen the isolation of Russia and Belarus on the international stage.
“Lithuania and Andorra share common values – we support Ukraine and strive to ensure that aggressors will be held to account in the international arena. I welcome the growing cooperation and believe that our partnership will create even more opportunities for both countries,” Budrys said.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister thanked Andorra for joining the EU sanctions targeting Russia and the Council of Europe’s Register of Damage Caused by the Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The Foreign Ministers agreed to strengthen support for Ukraine through cooperation in the areas of education, security and humanitarian aid. Andorra has already allocated EUR 15,000 to the Lithuanian Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund for the reconstruction of Snihurivka’s Lyceum in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine.
On 17 April 2024, during the official visit of the Prime Minister of Andorra Xavier Espot Zamora to Lithuania, two important agreements were signed: a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and Andorra, according to which Andorra contributed to the Lithuanian Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Fund, and an agreement for the avoidance of double taxation.
