Budrys: Ukraine's EU membership before the year 2030 must be our goal

Today, on 4 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Kęstutis Budrys, met with the Minister for European Affairs of Denmark, Marie Bjerre.
The Foreign Ministers discussed the priorities of the upcoming Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Europe's security situation, and the Nordic-Baltic cooperation.
Budrys expressed his expectation that the Danish Presidency would accelerate the EU integration process for Ukraine and Moldova. Denmark has already indicated this year that during its Presidency it was ready to open as many negotiating chapters for Ukraine as possible.
“Ukraine’s EU membership before the year 2030 must be our goal. Lithuania’s and Denmark’s partnership in supporting Ukraine’s integration into the EU also has a symbolic value – Denmark’s support was essential for Lithuania’s accession to the EU,” said Budrys.
Launched this year and with a total budget of €14 million, the three-year programme Ukraine2EU aims to strengthen the capacity of Ukraine's public sector (the European Commission allocated EUR 10 million, Denmark donated EUR 3 million, and Lithuania – EUR 1 million).
