Budrys to attend an informal EU meeting of trade ministers
On 13 and 14 October, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, will participate in an informal EU meeting of trade ministers in Horsens, Denmark. The meeting will focus on EU-U.S. trade relations, the implementation of the Trade Framework Agreement with the US reached in July, and the strengthening of the Union's economic security, aiming to enhance the EU's resilience and reliability of supply chains.
Together with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the ministers will address the future of the multilateral trading system.
According to Budrys, Lithuania is interested in an open and strong rules-based system of international trade, as well as the EU’s economic security, competitiveness, and sustainable economic growth.
The meeting in Denmark will also take stock of progress in the EU's ongoing trade negotiations with key partners.
In accordance with a long tradition, an informal meeting is being held in Denmark, which holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of this year.
