Budrys met with the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kallas

On 27 January, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, in Brussels. K. Budrys and K. Kallas discussed EU-US relations, sanctions policy against Russia, and support for Ukraine.
At the meeting, the Foreign Minister underlined that the European Union must be able to maintain a focused voice in the context of security and geopolitical challenges.
“We need to stand united to stop Russia’s aggression, both in supporting Ukraine and in developing relations with strategic partners around the world,” said the Foreign Minister.
Budrys and the High Representative discussed the imperfections in the EU’s sanctions methodology, which often hinder the expansion of the sanctions list and ways to resolve them. They also agreed to liaise on the use of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.
