Budrys met with the head of the American Jewish Committee

On February 14, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys met with Ted Deutch, the head of the American Jewish Committee (AJC).

During the meeting, projects on the history of Lithuanian Jews and the commemoration of Holocaust victims, Lithuania’s relations with Israel, ties with the Lithuanian Jewish community, and the situation in the Middle East were discussed.

“Lithuania has learned the lessons of history, and therefore we are committed to strengthening awareness of Jewish history and culture, to honoring the memory of the Holocaust victims, as well as to ensuring that Jews in Lithuania live in safety and dignity by all means. The manifestations of antisemitism and the distortion of Holocaust memory are unaceptable,” said Budrys.

The head of Lithuania's diplomacy presented the Lithuanian Government's plan to combat anti-Semitism and its commitment to ensuring Holocaust remembrance.

The American Jewish Committee was established in 1906 in the United States. It is one of the oldest Jewish advocacy organisations in the world.
