Budrys met with the Ambassador of India

On 13 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, met with the Ambassador of India to Lithuania, Devesh Uttam.

The Foreign Minister and the Ambassador discussed Europe's security situation and the need to strengthen the international community's support for Ukraine. The Foreign Minister believes that security in Europe and the Indo-Pacific are linked.

According to Budrys, Lithuania is interested in further strengthening economic cooperation and expanding technology partnerships. The Foreign Minister emphasized seeing prospects for more active cooperation in the field of advanced technology, including lasers, life sciences, and information processing.

The head of Lithuania's diplomacy also welcomed the cultural ties fostered by the countries. This year marks the 400th anniversary since the first Lithuanian Jesuit missionary, Andrius Rudamina, visited India and 130 years since the first Indian, Parsi scholar, Dr. Jivanji Jamshedji Modi, arrived in Lithuania. According to the Foreign Minister, this is a meaningful opportunity to designate the years 2025-2026 as the years of people-to-people contacts between Lithuania and India.
