On 29 September, on the margins of the Warsaw Security Forum,  the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, met with the Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. The meeting focused on the growing political and sectoral bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Armenia, Armenia's aspiration to deepen relations with the European Union (EU), and security issues.

Budrys emphasized that closer cooperation of Armenia with the EU is a path to progress and stability, further strengthening democratic processes. According to the Minister, Lithuania's EU membership is a success story, and therefore we support the European integration aspirations of the countries in the European neighbourhood and are ready to share our experience in implementing reforms. According to Budrys, the EU enlargement is a guarantee of security and peace on the continent.

"A European and democratic neighbourhood of the EU is in our strategic interests. We expect Armenia to follow the European path and continue its rapprochement with the EU", said the Minister.

The Minister congratulated Armenia on the initialling of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Treaty with Azerbaijan, as well as on the agreement on the opening of communications between Armenia and Azerbaijan in southern Armenia, which was reached with the mediation of the United States. Budrys noted that Lithuania is ready to share its experience in implementing the Kaliningrad transit scheme, i.e., ensuring safe and controlled movement through the territory of the country.
