Budrys meets with European Court of Auditors member Andrikienė
On 28 October, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys met with Dr Laima Liucija Andrikienė, Member of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) delegated by Lithuania.
During the meeting, the ECA's activities and the agenda of the upcoming Lithuanian presidency of the Council of the EU were discussed. Andrikienė informed about the initiatives envisaged by the ECA, which would contribute to the implementation of potential priorities in the Lithuanian Presidency's agenda.
The first initiative is the high-level conference planned by the ECA in Luxembourg in January 2027, which will focus on the EU enlargement and the integration of the new member states: Western Balkan countries (Montenegro and Albania, North Macedonia) and Eastern Partnership countries (Ukraine and Moldova).
The second initiative is a conference in Vilnius in June 2027, co-organized with the National Audit Office of the Republic of Lithuania. The conference will focus on European economic security, an issue that is increasingly high on the EU agenda and may be one of the priorities of the Lithuanian presidency.
"EU enlargement and economic security are crucial topics – we express our strong support for these initiatives. I am glad that the ECA is ready to make a significant contribution to the implementation of the Union's common priorities and strategic objectives during the Lithuanian presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2027," said Budrys.
