Budrys meets Sweden’s new Ambassador to Lithuania
On 6 October, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Lithuania, Urban Andersson.
The meeting focused on Lithuanian-Swedish bilateral cooperation, regional security, support for Ukraine, and Lithuania’s forthcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
“Lithuania and Sweden’s bilateral relations have strengthened significantly in recent years, particularly in the fields of security, defence and economic cooperation. We are seeking to further deepen cooperation with Sweden in the defence industry and strengthen regional resilience through our joint participation in NATO defence initiatives and missions,” Minister Kęstutis Budrys said.
The Minister invited Swedish companies to invest in Lithuania and to integrate Lithuanian businesses more actively into their supply chains, making use of Lithuania’s competitive advantages in high value-added sectors, including the laser, optics, electronics and engineering industries.
The head of Lithuanian diplomacy also highlighted the strong support both countries provide to Ukraine and their continued commitment to supporting Ukraine’s integration into the European Union. The discussion also underscored the successful implementation of Lithuanian-Swedish development cooperation initiatives in Ukraine.
Ambassador Urban Andersson presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, on 19 August.
