Budrys meets his new Irish counterpart, Simon Harris, in Brussels

On 27 January, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, met with the new Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Minister for Defence, Simon Harris, at the margins of the EU Foreign Affairs Council. The Foreign Ministers discussed Lithuania’s support for Ukraine and security issues.
During the meeting, Budrys stressed the need for European countries to continue tirelessly supporting Ukraine and devote more attention and resources to ensuring their own security. Ministers also exchanged views on the recent hybrid attacks in the Baltic Sea and discussed strengthening the protection of critical infrastructure.
“With Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine continuing and Russia’s shadow fleet continuing to carry out acts of sabotage in the Baltic Sea, we must step up our support for Ukraine, where the fate of the whole of Europe is being decided today, and provide for even tighter and broader sanctions against the aggressor,” said Budrys.
The head of Lithuania's diplomacy thanked the counterpart for Ireland’s significant contribution to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
