Budrys: Lithuania supports the Georgian people’s fight for freedom and their European choice

On 15 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, met with the former Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, on the margins of the Munich Security Conference.
At the meeting, the Foreign Minister underlined that Lithuania supported the aspirations of the Georgian people to live in a free democratic country and condemned the actions of the current government of the state – the use of brutal force against peaceful protesters, the persecution of journalists and opposition representatives.
Budrys also emphasized Lithuania’s support for the Georgian people choosing the European integration path.
“Lithuania supports the Georgian people’s fight for freedom and their European choice. The solution to the political crisis remains the same: the holding of new democratic, free and fair parliamentary elections in Georgia,” said the Foreign Minister.
