Budrys: Lithuania and the United Kingdom share a common threat perception

On 27 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Kęstutis Budrys, and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Lithuania, Liz Boyles, discussed comprehensive support for Ukraine, bilateral cooperation, the security situation in the region, and transatlantic ties.

“Our countries are linked not only by intensive political, economic and people-to-people contacts but also have a shared understanding of threats in the face of the Kremlin’s brutal aggression. We are grateful to the United Kingdom for its significant contribution to the security of the Baltic region. The most urgent task today remains to provide all possible support for Ukrainians defending their country's and Europe's freedom from the aggressor," said Budrys.

The Foreign Minister insisted that Lithuania was interested in continuing strong political, military, economic, and cultural cooperation with the United Kingdom.

The head of Lithuania's diplomacy also highlighted the need for Europe to invest more in its security, and defense capabilities. He also stressed the importance of closer relations between the European Union and the United Kingdom.
