Budrys in Washington, D.C.: it is clear that the only person who does not want peace is Putin

Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys continues his working visit to Washington D.C. On Tuesday, he and his Estonian and Latvian counterparts met with the US Senators Mitch McConnell, Jerry Moran and Jeanne Shaheen.

At the meeting with the Senators, the Baltic Ministers discussed Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine and the need for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. Budrys emphasised that Lithuania has no illusions about Russia's intentions. According to the Minister, Putin must be forced to sit down at the negotiating table through hard measures – sanctions and the use of frozen assets.

“Long-lasting peace in Ukraine is in the common interest of the US, Europe, and Ukraine. It is clear that the only person who does not want peace is Putin. We must stop this imperialist aggression once and for all,” said the Minister.

The meeting also discussed the need to strengthen NATO by increasing defence spending.
