Budrys in The Hague: President Trump has succeeded in ending the 12-day war in the Middle East; now we have a chance to end Russia's 1,200-day war of aggression against Ukraine

On 24 June, Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys participated in the NATO-Ukraine Council in The Hague in the format of foreign ministers.
At the meeting, which was attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, Budrys emphasized that US President Donald Trump had successfully ended the 12-day war in the Middle East and that we now have a chance to end Russia's 1,200-day war of aggression against Ukraine.
"With Russia claiming that it has military superiority over Ukraine, let's look at the facts. Since 2024, Russia has occupied about 1% of Ukraine's territory. Every minute, Russia loses one soldier in the war it started. Its economy is on the brink of recession," said the minister.
According to Budrys, NATO allies must act immediately and increase economic pressure on Russia - first and foremost by urgently adopting the 18th package of sanctions and starting work on a new one. They must also increase military support for Ukraine, particularly in response to its air defense needs and by investing in Ukraine's defense industry, and support Ukraine in every way possible on its irreversible path toward NATO membership.
