Budrys in Stockholm: we need to act together to strengthen Ukraine and Europe’s security
On 19 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, met with Peter Hultqvist, the Chair of the Riksdag’s Committee on Defence, in Stockholm to discuss security and defence cooperation and support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s brutal aggression.
Budrys stressed that Europe’s full support to Ukraine is vital. According to the Foreign Minister, strengthening Ukraine and supporting the pursuit of a lasting and just peace is necessary.
“Lithuania and Sweden are united by their approach to security and defence and their unwavering support for Ukraine. Our common goal is lasting peace. To achieve it, we need to strengthen both Ukraine and our defence capabilities,” said Budrys.
Budrys stressed the need for Europe to invest more actively in security and the development of the defence industry. The Foreign Minister said it was necessary to urge allies to increase investment in defence.
