Budrys in Luxembourg: attacks on Sumy are a barbaric war crime

Today, on 14 April, in Luxembourg, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Kęstutis Budrys, is attending the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council. The Council meeting addresses urgent military support and security guarantees for Ukraine, sanctions against Russia, and ensuring the aggressor's accountability.
When addressing journalists before the meeting, the head of Lithuania's diplomacy called yesterday's Russian ballistic missile strikes on the city of Sumy a barbaric war crime."This is a war crime by definition and another humiliation for everyone who tries to stop this aggression through diplomatic means, at least for a ceasefire for negotiations to begin," said Budrys.
According to the Minister, as Putin continues posing such challenges, Europe must respond with the 17th sanctions package, thereby increasing pressure to stop the war.
“Lithuania is ready to support the inclusion in the package all the sectors we left out of the 16th package such as the liquefied natural gas, Rosatom, and shadow fleet,” the Minister noted.
Budrys also stressed that it was time to open the negotiating clusters and set a date for Ukraine's EU membership, which could be 1 January 2030.
