Budrys had a telephone conversation with Egypt's Foreign Minister

On 27 February, Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, had a telephone conversation with Badr Abdelatty, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The heads of diplomacy noted the growing cooperation between Lithuania and Egypt and discussed Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine, as well as the situation in the Middle East.

“Russia’s ongoing unprovoked aggression against Ukraine in Lithuania’s neighborhood poses an existential threat to our country. To achieve peace, we must not forget who the aggressor and the victim are,” Lithuania's Foreign Minister underlined.

Budrys thanked Egypt for its strong position in supporting international peace and security, including supporting Ukraine in voting for resolutions at the United Nations General Assembly and efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East, mediating a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages.

Budrys highlighted the growth in the volume of trade and investment between Lithuania and Egypt, and the importance of finalising agreements on cooperation in maritime transport and air transport. The entry into force of the agreements will further facilitate the continued development of ties between the two countries.

Budrys invited the Egyptian Foreign Minister to come to Lithuania and continue the dialogue in Vilnius.
