Budrys expresses condolences over the passing of Arie Ben-Ari Grodzensky
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, expresses his sincere condolences on the passing of Arie Ben-Ari Grodzensky, a distinguished Litvak and longtime Chairman of the Association of Lithuanian Jews in Israel.
Born in Lithuania, Arie Ben-Ari Grodzensky maintained a lifelong connection with his homeland and made a significant contribution to strengthening relations between Lithuania and Israel. As leader of the Litvak community, he brought together Litvaks around the world, strengthened their ties with Lithuania, and consistently reminded them of their duty to preserve the Litvak heritage and the memory of the Holocaust, and to pass it on to future generations.
Arie Ben-Ari Grodzensky's life was marked by the personal tragedy of the Holocaust, yet he transformed this painful experience into meaningful work to preserve historical memory and promote dialogue and mutual understanding. His contribution to the preservation of the history, culture, and identity of Lithuanian Jews will remain a significant part of our shared historical memory.
Budrys extends his heartfelt sympathies to the family and loved ones of the deceased, as well as to the entire Litvak community in Lithuania and around the world.
