“Prof. Birutė Galdikas was one of the most prominent figures of Lithuanian origin on the global stage—an exceptional researcher who devoted her entire life to nature conservation and the study of the endangered orangutan population. Through her extensive academic and public activities, Birutė Galdikas has not only enriched global science but also consistently promoted Lithuania's name, always cherished her Baltic roots, and set an inspiring example for future generations. I extend my sincere condolences to her loved ones, the science community, and everyone who was touched by the Professor’s work and personality,” says Budrys.
