Budrys discusses Ukraine’s EU integration process with Hungarian Foreign Minister

On 12 October, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orbán in the margins of the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council. The ministers discussed bilateral cooperation, EU enlargement and Ukraine’s EU accession process.

Lithuania’s Foreign Minister emphasised that Lithuania values its close cooperation with Hungary and believes that, through joint efforts, solutions can be found to preserve the credibility of the EU enlargement process, strengthen European unity and enable Ukraine to make further progress on its path towards EU membership.

“We are convinced that strengthening good relations between Ukraine and Hungary is in the interests of both countries and their citizens. Dialogue and the search for pragmatic solutions are the best way to address complex issues and build lasting trust,” Budrys said.

Lithuania has consistently maintained that the EU enlargement process must remain credible, predictable and based on the progress achieved by candidate countries.
