BRUSSELS HOSTS POLITICAL DIRECTORS’ MEETING OF BALTIC AND BENELUX COUNTRIES

On 26 May, the Political Director of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dalius Čekuolis took part in the traditional meeting of Political Directors of Foreign Ministries of the Baltic and Benelux countries in Brussels. The Lithuanian representative acquainted his counterparts with priorities of the Presidency of the EU Council and preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held on 28 and 29 November in Vilnius.

At the meeting, officials exchanged opinions on topical issues related to the EU-Russia relations, the situations in Central Asia, Afghanistan, and Syria. The participants of the meeting exchanged views on other key items on the bilateral and EU agenda.

The political directors also began preparations for the annual meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Baltic and Benelux countries to be held on 9-10 October 2013.
