On 3-6 November, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil Celso Lafer is visiting Lithuania. It is the first working visit of a Brazilian official of such a high rank in Lithuania.
During his stay, the chief of the Brazilian diplomacy is to meet with Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus and Foreign Minister Antanas Valionis. During the meetings issues of bilateral economic and cultural cooperation are to be addressed. The Brazilian Minister will be acquainted with the priorities of Lithuanian foreign policy. Also, it is expected to exchange opinions on topical issues of international policy.
The guest will give a lecture on the Brazilian foreign policy at Vilnius University. He also plans to visit the Vilnius Synagogue and to meet with members of the community of Lithuanian Jews.
Minister Lafer also intends to visit Širvintos and Želva, where his family came from.
