BILATERAL POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN LITHUANIA AND CHINA ARE HELD IN BEIJING

On 19 November, in Beijing bilateral political consultations were opened between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and China. A delegation headed by Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oskaras Jusys met with Chinese Vice-Minister of Communications Feng Zhenglin. During the meeting, in which Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications Liudmila Zumerienė also took part, the preparation for the Asia-European meeting of Transport Ministers, initiated by Lithuania in Vilnius in 2009 was also discussed. This is the first Lithuanian initiative in the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) process and China is one of the sponsors of this event.

Dates, planning and preparation work, issues that will be raised in the upcoming meeting in Vilnius were discussed in the Ministry of Communications of China. Chinese Vice-Minister of Communications promised to provide expanded support for the preparation of the upcoming meeting in Vilnius. He proposed to organize a business forum together with the meeting in Vilnius.

The delegation headed by O.Jusys also met with the ambassadors of the European Union countries residing in Beijing and took interest in the representation plans of other European Union countries in China as well as the development of economic relations with China.
