BILATERAL LITHUANIAN-ROMANIAN POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS IN BUCHAREST
On 4 February, in Bucharest Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Laimonas Talat-Kelpša took part in bilateral political consultations between Lithuania and Romania. During the meeting with State Secretary for European Affairs at Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Raduta Matache, Lithuanian-Romanian bilateral cooperation was discussed: promotion of business ties, planned visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Petras Vaitiekūnas and Lithuanian entrepreneurs to Romania, possibilities of cooperation between scientists from Lithuania and Romania.
During the consultations, special attention was paid to the issues of cooperation in the European Union: energy security, ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon, the EU budget, the EU enlargement and the Neighbourhood policy in the East. Possibilities for multilateral regional cooperation in the European Union and partnership among the countries of the Black and the Baltic Sea, perspectives of Euro-integration for Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine were also discussed.
Undersecretary of the Ministry L.Talat-Kelpša invited Romania to take a more active role in developing the interrelations of the countries in the region from the Adriatic to the Black Sea and the cooperation of these countries with the EU and NATO.
Representatives from the Lithuanian and Romanian Ministries of Foreign Affairs discussed the upcoming meeting of NATO Defence Ministers on 7-8 February in Vilnius. Undersecretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs L.Talat-Kelpša wished success to Romania in organising the NATO Summit this year on 2-4 April in Bucharest.
