BILATERAL COOPERATION BETWEEN LITHUANIA AND ICELAND WAS DISCUSSED IN VILNIUS

On 30 November Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas had a working dinner with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland Valgerdur   who paid a visit to Vilnius. The Ministers discussed the results of the NATO Summit, exchanged opinions on security policy issues. The Ministers expressed satisfaction with successful bilateral relations, expanding mutual trade, Icelandic investment in Lithuania.

The Minister of Iceland shared experience of organization of this small country’s diplomatic service that aims at not only protecting Iceland’s interests in other countries but also contributing to the spread of democracy and peacemaking processes in the world.

During her visit to Vilnius the Minister of Iceland opened the Consulate of Iceland headed by Honorary Consul Vaidotas Sankalas, representing a joint Lithuanian-Icelandic company.
