On December 17-22, the annual meeting of the heads of Lithuanian diplomatic missions will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On December 17, the Ambassadors are to meet Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus. After a lunch the first Plenary Session is to be held at the MFA where Foreign Minister Antanas Valionis is to deliver his report. In the evening the opening of the exhibition “Lithuanian diplomacy in 1990-2001” will take place at the MFA.
Later next week the Lithuanian Ambassadors are also to meet Chairman of the Lithuanian Seimas Artūras Paulauskas, the members of the Parliamentary Committees on Foreign Affairs, National Security and Defense and of the Commission on the NATO Affairs, Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Brazauskas and other officials. They are planning to discuss the EU and NATO integration, bilateral relations as well as the issues concerning economy, diplomatic service, consular and legal issues.
Currently Lithuania has 45 diplomatic missions abroad and 389 diplomats are in the Diplomatic Service of Lithuania.
