An Honorary Consulate of Lithuania opened in Auckland
During the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius to New Zealand, on 20 March Honorary Consulate of Lithuania was officially opened in Auckland. Businessman Algis John Mack of Lithuanian descent became the new Honorary Consul.
During a meeting with members of the Lithuanian community in Oakland, Audronius Pečiulaitis was given the award of honour of Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Lithuanian Diplomacy Star – for his long and fruitful representation of the Republic of Lithuania in the post of the Honorary Consul for 7 years. There are over 250 Lithuanians currently living in New Zealand.
