AN EXHIBITION ON LITHUANIAN ARCHEOLOGISTS’ EXPEDITIONS IN AFGHANISTAN WAS OPENED IN WARSAW
On 21-22 September in Warsaw, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavičius is participating in bilateral consultations with Poland on Eastern Partnership and development cooperation issues. On 21 September at the Lithuanian Centre close to the Lithuanian embassy in Poland, the Vice-Minister opened an exhibition entitled “Newly Found Old Ariana”. It presents the photographs from Lithuanian archeological expeditions in the Ghor Province which were held in 2007-2008. Archeological objects, nature of the province, architecture, people, cultural heritage a minaret (dates back to XII century), which is protected by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), are shown in these pictures.
This exhibition is a part of long-term development cooperation and support for democracy programme “Archaeological – Heritage Mission in Ghor Province, Afghanistan, 2007-2010“.
The exhibition has been already shown in Paris, Vilnius and regions of Lithuania.
The possibilities of bilateral cooperation in preparing and implementing projects of Eastern Partnership program and developing EU relations with partner countries are on the agenda of the meeting between Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs E.Ignatavičius and Under-Secretary of State at Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrzej Kremer. The meeting is scheduled for 22 September.
