AN AGREEMENT ON THE LITHUANIAN-KIRGHIZ INVESTMENT PROMOTION INITIALLED IN BISHKEK
In Bishkek, on 30 November, the Lithuanian Government delegation, headed by Director of the Department of Law and International Treaties of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrius Namavičius, held negotiations and initialled an Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement between the Lithuanian Government and the Kirgizstan’s Government.
The Kirghiz Government delegation was headed by Direct Investment Management Director of the Ministry for Economic Development and Trade Kubat Murzaev.
The agreement sets out a lawful mechanism for the capital movement of both countries, embedding non-discriminatory and most-favoured regime principles for the investors of both countries, the freedom to transfer all assets related to an investment, the bases of arbitration investment dispute proceedings, and other tools of investment protection. This agreement seeks to serve as a prerequisite for free capital flows between the countries, creating a favourable climate for private investors.
The agreement comes into effect after it will be signed and ratified by the parliaments of both countries.
