AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN LITHUANIA, SWEDEN AND RUSSIA ON THE COMMON POINT OF THE BOUNDARIES OF EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONES AND CONTINENTAL SHELF IN THE BALTIC SEA WAS SIGNED
On 30 November an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden and the Government of the Russian Federation on the common point of the boundaries of Lithuanian, Swedish and Russian exclusive economic zones and continental shelf in the Baltic Sea was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The agreement was signed by authorized representatives – the Deputy Director of Lithuanian Foreign Ministry Consular Department Zenonas Kumetaitis, the Principal Legal Advisor of International Law Department of the Foreign Ministry of Sweden Marie Jakobson, and Ambassador at Large of Russian Foreign Ministry Aleksej Obuchov.
“Lithuania is the first state of the post-Soviet bloc to legitimate the delimitation of land border and also the boundaries of economic zone and continental shelf in the Baltic Sea with Russian Federation,” Deputy Director of Consular Department Kumetaitis said.
