AMERICAN HISTORIAN RECEIVES LITHUANIAN DECORATIONS FOR PROMOTING LITHUANIA’S NAME
On 20 April, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis conferred the award of honour of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs “Lithuanian Diplomacy Star” on historian Alfred Erich Senn for promoting Lithuania’s name in the U.S.A. and in other countries.
“You have contributed significantly to the development of Lithuanian science and society, as you taught at Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University. Thanks to you, quite a few Lithuanian teachers, diplomats and journalists had a possibility to intern at the University of Wisconsin. It is extremely important to us that you chose to research the international situation of Lithuania, our diplomatic activities. Your insights and assessments are extremely important and unique,” Ažubalis said.The new memoir “Lithuania in My Life” by A.E.Senn was also presented at the event held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The book shows the author’s close relationship with Lithuania.
A.E.Senn has written eight books on Lithuania’s history. The author explored the birth of Lithuanian diplomacy, Lithuania’s diplomatic activities as key instrument of foreign policy and established contacts with a number of Lithuanian politicians and diplomats. For many years, the historian also contributed to the development of relations between the cities of Vilnius and Madison.
