AMBASSADOR TO US OFFICIALLY OPENS TWO LITHUANIAN HONORARY CONSULATES IN STATES OF NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY

Lithuanian Ambassador to the US Vygaudas Ušackas officially opened Lithuanian Honorary Consulates in Rochester (New York State) and Mendham (State of New Jersey) on 22-23 October. Rimas Česonis and Eugene Rainis hold up positions of Lithuanian honorary consuls in the States of New York and New Jersey. During the opening ceremonies, Vygaudas Ušackas underlined the importance of experience gained by the Lithuanian honorary consuls in US financial institutions and through running a tourism agency for development of business and tourism ties between the Northeastern coast of America and Lithuania. At the solemn events, the Ambassador informed on Lithuania’s economic achievements, effects of the membership in the EU for the country’s economy and the World Bank report announced in October, ranking Lithuania as the sixth country according to introduction of business-friendly changes. In Ušackas’ belief, activities of the Honorary Consulates will also encourage tourism to Lithuania. During his visit in Rochester on 22 October, the Lithuanian Ambassador met President of the Rochester Business Alliance Sandy Parker and Head of the regional economic development organisation “Greater Rochester Enterprise” Michael Finney. Currently, 12 Lithuanian Honorary Consulates operate in the United States of America.
