Ambassador presents letters of credence to the Sultan of Oman
On 24 April, the Ambassador of Lithuania to the United Kingdom Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė presented her letters of credence to the Sultan of Oman and discussed the most important issues of bilateral cooperation.
According to the Lithuanian Ambassador, the partnership between the largest Baltic country and the state in southwest Asia in the fields of economy, education and culture is gaining momentum - currently agreements are drafted on reciprocal promotion and protection of investment, avoidance of double taxation, and cooperation in the fields of information technology, culture and science.
The Sultan Qaboos stressed the significance for both countries of fostering ethnic traditions and preserving their national identity. At the meeting, the Ambassador and the Sultan agreed that it was necessary to further develop cooperation between institutions of higher education and culture. To that end, Vilnius will host political consultations of Foreign Ministries of Lithuania and Oman in June.
