Ambassador Kalindra presents credentials to the President of Albania
On 24 September, the Ambassador of Lithuania Andrius Kalindra presented his letters of credence to the President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj.
During the meeting, the Ambassador and the President discussed bilateral relations between Lithuania and Albania, European security challenges and Albania's integration into the European Union (EU). Lithuania and Albania share common ground on key issues, with both sides strongly supporting the international law-based order, the strengthening of democratic institutions and respect for human rights, and condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in one voice.
Lithuania seeks to strengthen political dialogue with Albania. In the near future, an intensive programme of bilateral interparliamentary contacts is envisaged, as well as the exchange of Lithuania's experience with Albania with a view to finalising EU accession negotiations.
Lithuania firmly supports Albania's European perspective and the reform process being undertaken by the country.
In preparation for the Presidency of the Council of the EU, Lithuania will work to ensure that the EU enlargement process, based on the merits of each candidate country and the progress achieved, remains high on the EU agenda.
