Ambassador Ernestas Mickus presents his letters of credence to the President of the United Arab Emirates

On 3 September, Ernestas Mickus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania, presented his letters of credence to the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The ceremony formally marked the beginning of Ambassador Mickus’s diplomatic mission in the United Arab Emirates.

The Ambassador and the President of the UAE reaffirmed their mutual commitment to deepen bilateral political dialogue and economic cooperation further, and to foster closer ties between the two countries’ institutions, business communities and peoples.

Relations between Lithuania and the United Arab Emirates have steadily strengthened in recent years, with economic cooperation becoming an increasingly important pillar of the bilateral partnership. Business ties between the two countries continue to expand, accompanied by growing interest in trade and investment opportunities. Lithuania sees particularly strong potential for cooperation in advanced technologies, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, life sciences, space technologies, renewable energy, the food industry and innovative food technologies, as well as logistics. For Lithuanian companies, the UAE represents not only an important and dynamic market but also a gateway to the wider Gulf and to markets across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the United Arab Emirates was established in 2019. Ernestas Mickus is the third resident Ambassador of Lithuania to the UAE, based in Abu Dhabi.
