Ambassador Daunoravičius presents his letters of credence to the Secretary General of the League of Arab States

On 27 November, the Ambassador of Lithuania Arvydas Daunoravičius presented his letters of credence to Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States.

After the ceremony, the diplomats had a conversation. Daunoravičius and the Secretary General discussed the situation in the region and opportunities for possible cooperation.

Founded in Cairo in 1945, the League of Arab States is the regional alliance of Arab States, which currently has 22 members and 4 associate members. Its first members were Egypt, Iraq, Transjordan (modern-day Jordan), Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.

The League of Arab States aims to foster closer ties between its member states and to coordinate collaboration between them, to safeguard their independence and sovereignty, and to consider in a general way the affairs and interests of the Arab countries.
