Ambassador Darius Staniulis met with dr. Fabiola Gianotti, Director-General of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)

On 22 February, the Permanent Representative of Lithuania in Geneva Ambassador Darius Staniulis met with the Director-General of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) dr. Fabiola Gianotti. The meeting focused on cooperation between Lithuania and CERN especially in the field of science and research.

During the meeting cooperation between Baltic States were also discussed with possible deeper cooperation in the feel of data processing. Ambassador Staniulis expressed political support for the full membership of Lithuania in CERN in the light of upcoming review of 5 years associated membership.

Lithuania has joined CERN family in 2017 as associated member and actively participated in CERN activities. Experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics Center was established at Vilnius University. Lithuanian business exploited an opportunity to participate in CERN’s public tenders. In 2019 CERN Business Incubator was established where CERN technologies are encourage to be used in innovative way.
