ACTIVITIES OF A POLISH POLITICIAN IN EXILE, AN ACTIVE PROPONENT OF LITHUANIA’S MEMBERSHIP IN NATO WERE COMMEMORATED AT VILNIUS TOWN HALL

Screening of the documentary “Pseudonym Jan Nowak” was organized for participants of the Vilnius Ten commemoratory round table event (the event marks the 10th anniversary of the Vilnius Ten), politicians, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the general public was organized on 19 May, dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the death of Jan Nowak-Jeziorański, a Polish politician in exile and an active proponent of Lithuania’s membership in NATO.

During the presentation of the film at Vilnius Town Hall, Political Director of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eitvydas Bajarūnas, Adviser to the Prime Minister Česlavas Okinčicas and Polish Ambassador to Lithuania Janusz Skolimowski shared their own recollections of their meetings with J.Nowak-Jeziorański and highlighted the merits of this legendary politician, who was the Voice of Freedom as he worked for the Radio Free Europe for more than 20 years, and stressed his extremely big help when Lithuania aspired to join NATO. J.Nowak-Jeziorański was bestowed the title of the citizen of honour of the Republic of Lithuania for this significant contribution.
